Chili & Pumpkin 2011

If you missed it last night, you missed out!  The chili was fantastic (same as last year - thanks Cassie!) and the company was wonderful.  

Who knew we had such pumpkin carving masters amongst us?

I'm sure the Ronald McDonald House will enjoy these this weekend!

Annual President's Picnic

It's that time again... time for the Annual President's Picnic! This family-friendly event is for us all to gather and enjoy food and friendship, so bring your medical student spouse and your kids (the two-legged kind only, please!)

We'll supply the bbq and drinks, so bring along a side dish or dessert - and indicate in your response what you'll be bringing.

Fall = New School Year!

Well everybody, it’s officially a new year for MSA and our hard working medical student spouses. Whether you are at the beginning, end, or somewhere in between, congratulations for making it this far!

Medical school is just as challenging for us as it is for our spouses (no matter what my husband thinks!). His stressful sleepless rotations are my stressful exhausting rotations. His intense test prep is my stir crazy loneliness and his acceptance letter and match day are mine too. And I just love having a group of friends who empathize with all that! Don’t worry (like I myself did at one point), we’re not a group of stepford wives. This is simply our journey too.

If you are new to our group, welcome! We look forward to getting to know you and your hubby (or wife as the case may be – we do have a few husbands!) Bottom line, our group is together simply to connect you with other spouses. We are the people who know what a “test week” really means. It means you will need to get out of the house and you will need someone to get out of the house with!

Come and join us for our first event this year. We’re hosting a meet and greet cocktail hour at 5’Oclock Bistro, Thursday Aug 18^th from 6-8 pm. Please rsvp if you are interested. Hope to see you there!

Spring Board Meeting

Coming up next Monday (April18) we will be holding our Spring Board Meeting. At this meeting, we will be electing new officers, planning our Senior Dinner, and discussing summer events. Make sure to check your inboxes for your Evite with all the details. Also, if you would like to make suggestions for the dinner or be considered for an office but can't attend the meeting, please email us as medicalstudentauxiliary@gmail.com.

And remember: the more people we have to participate, the better it will be!

Second Friday Recap

We had a great time at this month's Second Friday event. This style is something we definitely plan to repeat. For dinner, we had an assortment of Pizza Joint pies and some delicious salad followed by a yummy dessert sampling. This was mixed with a lot of laughs, some Wii, and a little puppy love. Susie and Nick definitely won for the most creative Miis. We missed those of you who couldn't make it and hope to see you the next time! Here are a few pictures of the fun...

2nd Friday March

Game night next Friday (3.11.11 @ 7-10pm) at the Homan House. We'll bring the pizza, Wii, and boardgames, if you'll bring the drinks/desserts. Be sure to bring your spouse too!

Parking: There are a few guest parking spots. If those are full, park on the street at the corner of Buckhaven Way & Lane.

Event Update: Recipe Swap

Thursday, Feb 17th @ 6:30pm

The resident's wives (MCG Housestaff Auxiliary) has invited us all to participate in their annual Recipe Swap. Last year's was so yummy!

This is a great way to get to know the resident's wives and to get a feel for what lies ahead for us all, not to mention the great new recipe ideas.

Each person attending needs to bring a dish of any kind to share. You'll also need to email the recipes by Monday, Feb 14th, so we can forward those for the recipe book.

Spring semester!

Spring semester has dutifully arrived, and so have our MSA events to keep us going! I know we have been lax in updating our blog (sorry!), but this spring I pledge to be better. Please check back frequently as this will be the place we update you on upcoming events.

A bit of MSA News: Just as Augusta celebrates 1st Friday on Broad, MSA will now host an event every 2nd Friday. This should be a great way to keep us all connected during the year. Plan on it!
